I’ve listened to “Old Dogs Children & Watermellon Wine” by Tom T. Hall a million times, and never thought to look-up Watermellon Wine. Is it an actual type of wine, popular in some southern corner of the country or is it a colorful lyric and not an actual reference to a drink?

We’ll after 3 seconds of searching, it appears to be authentic. So now I am setting out to make my own…see if its true, that there “Aint but three things in this world that’s worth a solitary dime, but old dogs and children and watermelon wine“.

Here is the recipe and directions which I will follow. Lets prey it doesn’t suck – a year plus, waiting for bitter, acidic bottled piss will surely throw me into a rage :)

If this works, I’ll invest in making some “Colorado Cool-Aid”.
